Soft Homemade Sandwich Bread

Ingredients

4 cups bread flour

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)

1/4 cup warm wate

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 large egg

1 1/2 teaspoons sal

1 tablespoon melted butter for brushing the loaf

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until foamy Add the softened butter, egg, and salt. Mix well.

Gradually add the bread flour, one cup at a time, stirring until a soft dough forms.

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.

Place the dough into a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan.

Cover and let it rise again for 30 to 45 minutes until the dough rises about an inch above the rim of the pan.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the loaf is
