Savory Onion Fritters with Tangy Chive Dip

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 large onions, thinly sliced
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup milk
1 egg, beaten
Oil for frying

Chive Dip:

2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced onions, flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss until the onions are evenly coated with the flour mixture.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and beaten egg. Pour the milk mixture over the onion mixture and stir until well combined. The batter should be thick and sticky.
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 1 inch of oil over medium heat until hot but not smoking.
Drop spoonfuls of the onion batter into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the fritters for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove the fritters from the oil and drain on paper towels.
To make the chive dip, simply combine the sour cream, chopped chives, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Stir until well mixed.
Serve the savory onion fritters hot with the tangy chive dip on the side for dipping
